Heron Island is a short boat trip from the Arch Rock Cottage in the Bay de Chaleur. There are opportunities for walks around the island, picnic cookouts and overnight camping. How to get to Heron Island: The Tesnegeg Tour Boat is one of the best ways for tourists to get to Heron Island. It leaves from the Eel River Bar not far from the cottage. As an alternative you can usually find a local fisherman in Dalhousie, Charlo or New Mills who can run you out to the island then pick you up at the end of your stay. Be sure to bring your mosquito repellent.
